Jaipur was the capital of Rajasthan, the princess city of Aamer was long as Rajput’s capital. In the 1600s the city was getting bored with activity and markets. The fort of Nahargarh with the fort of Aamer Fort and Jaigad fortified the then capital.

History of Nahargarh Fort
Nahargarh means ‘residence of tigers’. Legend says that after the raid of Rathore, Nahar Singh, the fort was named Nahargarh. When the construction of the fort started, there was a strange incident.
Every morning workers are destroyed in the work of the previous day. This is when the then Maharaja, Jai Singh, discovered that this land was haunted. They built a temple in which the soul could reside and the fort was named Nahargarh.

The Nahargarh Fort is located approximately 6 KM away from the city of Jaipur. The best way to get to the destination is to hire a taxi. Even the auto goes up to the entrance of the fort. The shuttle is also available from the hill foot.
Nahargarh Fort Entry and Timing
The Nahargarh Fort is open from 10 00 am to 5.00 pm in the evening. The entry fee for foreign tourists is INR 200 and students are INR 25.
The wax museum and the Sheesh Mahal are located near the entrance of the fort. The entrance fee for each is $ 350.
Best time to visit Nahargarh Fort
The best time to visit Jaipur is during winter when the weather is pleasant. And the best tour of Nahargarh is done during the day. The fort makes an ideal place to spend the whole day. You can also connect it with two nearby forts, Amer and Jaigad.
It is advisable to travel to Nahargarh fort first. You can spend there in the morning and have lunch. After going there, you can go to Jaigad, which is only one kilometer from Nahargarh.
