Sajjangarh udaipur In the name of Maharana Sajjan Singh, the monsoon palace is also known as Sajjan Garh Palace. Deployed on the top of a hill, the monsoon palace was originally built to look after Maharana Sajjan Singh’s hometown, Chittaurgarh. The monsoon palace offers a panoramic view of Udaipur, which emerged prominently under the rule of Maharana Sajjan Singh. The palace was planned to build a 9 storied astronomical observatory, which will track the monsoon arrival by tracking monsoon clouds. Unfortunately due to the untimely death of Maharana Sajjan Singh, the plan of construction was handed over to his successor, Maharana Fateh Singh. He built a lake, which he named Fateh Sagar Lake, which could be seen directly from the palace. The royal family also used the palace as a hunting lodge. The palace has been built keeping the Rajput architectural style in mind. The monsoon palace is made of white marble, decorated with turquoise, towers, and pillars, which show the beautiful appearance of leaves and flowers. Despite the beauty of the monsoon palace with its unique rainwater harvesting techniques, the monsoon palace was left gradually and due to lack of water, it has not been rebuilt. Until recently, the monsoon palace has not been opened to the public and it has been added to the list of Popular Tourist Places in Udaipur.
