Hawa Mahal is a five-story situated in the heart of the city of Jaipur. It has bee like structure and it is made of red and pink sandstone which has been enlightened so that it can be vibrant. This pink city is pink like the rest of Jaipur.
Small pallets or dome-shaped pavilions have been engraved in the palace, which reflects the prosperity of the burning Rajput architecture. There are 953 window or overhanging balconies in the walls of the palace, from which cold and fresh air can pass.
The most unique aspect about the palace is the fact that a light breeze passes through it all the time. This is the name of the palace. Air means wind, which is the castle of wind.
The historical importance of Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal was built in the year 1799 for the woman of the royal palace. In Medieval India, an ah forgiveness system was followed, where royal women used to follow solitude. Hawa Mahal was built to connect the royal woman outside. The queens and princesses could see different procession and events from many windows of the Hawa Mahal.
Sawai Pratap Singh was a devotee of Hindu Lord Krishna. He told Lal Chand Usta to the chief architect that he somehow designed the house to honor God. Therefore the palace has been structured in the shape of Lord Krishna’s currency.

The Hawa Mahal is located on the main road near the Bodhi Chaupar and the City Palace complex. It is within walking distance of other attractions like Jantar Mantar and City Palace.
